International Multi-Platinum Mixing Engineer

Koen Heldens, born and raised in the Netherlands, attended the Venray School of Music and started composing and producing dance music at the tender age of 12. Solidifying his place in the industry as a rising talent, Koen reached number one on the Eastern European Top 40 charts for his production work for Hungarian Grammy Award nominated producer Tranzident and remained in the Top 20 for a five consecutive months, resulting in a Gold Award.

Parallel to his success as a music producer and engineer, Koen moved to The United States in 2005. Mentored by multi-platinum master mixer, Dave Pensado, a buzz generated around Koen’s engineering skills and signature style of mixing music. He became chief engineer at a major recording studio, training other engineers and was quickly known as “The Music Surgeon,” for his extensive technical background and creative approach.

Koen became an international muliti-platinum mixing engineer, working with such major artists as Beyonce, Lil Wayne, Jennifer Lopez and UK R&B sensation Keisha White.

Koen Heldens, previously managed by Cheryl Banks for J-VU Entertainment and (an independent management branch of super producer J-Roc of Timbaland Productions (Mosley Music Group), is currently being sought after as one of the industry’s emerging and notable mixing engineers by such producers as Brian Kennedy (Rihanna, Kelly Clarkson, Chris Brown) and Seven Aurelius ( Jlo, Ashanti, LL Cool J) for various projects.

Recently Koen has been busy in the studio working on projects for Ray J., Mario, K. Michelle, Diana Ross’ son Evan Ross, actress Taryn Manning, hit TV show X Factor Europe and the HBO hit TV series “How To Make It In America” among other projects.

Koen’s expertise in the audio engineering field has lead him to be hired as a member of Musicians Institute Hollywood California Industry Committee, devoted to improving the school’s audio engineering curriculum. Koen also teaches his own two hour “Getting A Good Mix” clinic for Musicians Institute and is a freelance writer for the word’s leading pro audio and sound production magazine “Mix”. Devoted to change the industry, Koen is actively involved in the Recording Academy (Grammy’s) Producers and Engineering Wing and freelance product developer and consultant (Waves Audio, Slate Digital and Yamaha).
