If you have been listening to hip-hop for any period of time chances are you have heard the work of, Kannon “Caviar” Cross aka Cavie. The West Coast, Mega Producer is responsible for some of the hottest hits for a host of the most popular artist in the music industry and to date has become one of the most sought after music producers on the West Coast to produce for Artist in the South, East and Midwest. Growing up In Southside Compton, Caviar witnessed the genesis of the gangsta rap movement first and. At 12 years old he, was blessed to be mentored by Eazy-E and was a regular in the studio when (at the time) DJ Train was working with a little known rap group called, N.W.A. Caviar had a chance to see legendary artists at their craft, whether it was watching Ice Cube pen “Gangsta Gangsta” on a bunk bed, or seeing D.O.C. spit lyrics in the studio. By the time he was 13, N.W.A. had blown up around the world, and he realized just how powerful music can be. One night while watching Dr. Dre, DJ Train and DJ Yella at work, Caviar decided to quit gang banging for good and formed his own crew called, Torture Chamber. After that, he began rapping under the stage name “Cavie” and became intensely focused on solo production, shopping his beats to the likes of Mack 10, Ice Cube, and Xzibit.

In 2000, Caviar linked up with Blackground Records and began working on several projects with Aaliyah including songs such as “Back in One Piece,” featuring DMX. The song was a big hit on the “Romeo Must Die” soundtrack. Blackground also hired Caviar to work with R&B artist, Tank, producing songs such as “Street Life” and “My Freak.” In 2001, Caviar moved to Atlanta and began to produce tracks for T.I., beginning with work on “Urban Legend” and continuing to “King”, where he produced the menacing track, “Undertaker.” From 2002-2009, Caviar continued to produce and collaborate with artist such as T.I., Mike Jones, Tyra B., Lil Scrappy, Killer Mike, Nappy Roots, Pimp C, Crooked-I, Bun-B, Young Dro, Macy Gray, Gorilla Zoe, Xzibit, Too Short, E-40, Tank, Boyz N Da Hood, Alfa Mega, Jayo Felony, Frankie Jay, Lil Scrappy, Nappy Roots and many others. Caviar also had the privilege of producing some of the late Pimp C’s last recorded songs.

In 2010, is hit record with Macy Gray, “Beauty in the World”, generated several television placements including; “Ugly Betty”, “Law and Order LA”, “What Chilli Wants” and the Ashton Kutcher film “Killers”. The song also became the theme song for Microsoft Explorer9 and the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Other Macy Gray collaborations produced by Caviar also made it on the screens like “Kissed It” which became the Summer time theme song for the Bravo network and “Stand Up” which was in the movie “For Colored Girls”. In 2011, Caviar was featured on the television show, Dr. Drew “Life Changers” where be became an official Mentor/Life Changer for the show by offering internships to disadvantaged youth at his Recording Studio in Hollywood, CA. To date he continues to motivate, mentor and provide internships to youth who are in need of guidance and participates as a panelist at various conferences and speaking engagements. He has been featured in several publications including the November 2011 Issue of Vibe Magazine and has also released a single with Timbaland called “Bounce Down The Blvd”. He is currently producing projects for a wide range of artists including: Noriega, E40, Too Short, Slim, D. Woods, That Girl V, Goodie Mob, DMX, T.I., Macy Gray, MC Lyte, Queen Latifah, Genuine, Nelly, Akon, Keith Robinson, Sleepy Brown and Cee-Lo Green to name a few.

Most recently, Caviar came up with a tagline ”Artist Over Industry” and was named an advisor for Monkeybars.net, a socially-driven website which financially rewards independent artists and fans for distributing and recommending content online. Caviar, has also obtained multiple product endorsements To date, Caviar’s hit song “Be My Daddy” featuring Macy Gray from the “Gangsta and a Gentleman II” mixtape has been featured on the movie soundtrack, “White T”, which was released in theaters in February of 2013. His hit, “Beauty in the World” has once again received placements for Chobani Yogurt and the 85th Annual Academy Awards. Caviar aka Cavie is definitely a force to be reckoned with, his highly anticipated mixtape “Gangsta and a Gentleman III” was released in April of 2013 via Datpiff.com featuring: T.I., Keith Robinson, Sleepy Brown, Raheem De Vaughn, Too Short, Planet Asia, Shawn Chrys, Gorilla Zoe, Fly Kidd, Brasco, Chase L.A., T. Nelson, Young Dre and many others!

Caviar also produced tracks for DMX, Goodie Mobb, MC Lyte and many others who recently released albums this year. Currently, Cavie released the hot new mixtape “Racks Over Ratchets” hosted by none other than Comedian, Mike Epps which is a prelude to the full length album which features the likes of Too Short, Mistah F.A.B., E40, OG Cuicide, Kokane, N.O.R.E. Scoty ATL, Mac Lucci, Joe Moses, T.Nelson, Lil Scrappy, D-Lo, Edi Don, James Wade and newcomer Hashton Kushner. In 2014 his Macy Gray hit “Beauty in the World” was licensed once again by popular morning television shows, “Good Morning America” and “Kelly & Michael”.
