Carnetta Jones has directed, produced and acted in films screened in festivals worldwide from Los Angeles to Cannes.
Before focusing on directing films, Carnetta directed over 40 stage plays as the Artistic Director of Antelope Valley Christian Center; Also she acting coached celebrities, Macy Gray, Meagan Good, Tasha Smith and others for various films and television projects. She continued to hone her directing skills, while she taught college theater classes at Antelope Valley College.
Carnetta’s passion for cinema led to notable producing collaborations with Ty Hodges, and Russ Parr, independent film directors. She co- produced on Ty’s, Miles from Home, a participant in the 2008 Cannes film market and Russ’s,The Under Shepherd, the Centerpiece for Pan African Film Festival 2012. Another notable producing credit is K.O. High documentary. It’s about at-risk teens in the inner cites high schools of Los Angeles. The filmmaker, Marvin Columbus chronicles the lives of troubled teens involved in competitive boxing. Currently, she executive produced, a reality show on E! called,”Fame in the Family”.
Being a producer led to shadowing directors which led to her first directorial debut: A Mother’s Choice, a short film about a military family who struggles to regain emotional stability after the death of their father. Shortly after, she directed her second film, 1 800 Perfect Man, a short comedy film about dating and the social media. Recently, she wrapped her first directorial feature,called “Puzzled”.
Carnetta plans to director and produce more feature films, more television shows and more stage plays.
